Some of the most successful leaders in America, like Oprah Winfrey, Warren Buffet, or Bill Gates, and even world renown speakers like Anthony Robbins have stated that the way to make millions or to affect the lives of millions of individuals is to discover your passion and live for it daily.
Sometimes in life we get so caught up with changing diapers, laundry, working our jobs, making a living, that we find ourselves very busy, but without passion. I know, personally, I absolutely loved being a mommy and spending time with my kids. But I have to admit, there were days when I would ask myself, "What am I doing?" That is when I discovered that I had become human DOINGS instead of recognizing that God created me as a human BEING. One day, while my kids were just babies, I was sitting with a very successful businessman and his wife who were very busy, but living without a real sense of purpose or passion. I looked him in the eye and asked, "What are you most passionate about?"
Being a man of many words, I was shocked when he sat stunned by the question. He replied, "That is a good question. I will have to give that some thought and I will send you an email with my reply."
I thought, "Isn't that interesting that you can be worth millions and not know your passion? It sent me to my own place of introspection. Being a busy, working mom, with two kids and a husband to care for, I stopped and asked, "What am I most passionate about?"
A second question I asked that man and his wife was, "What is it that you can do in this world that no one can do better?" Again, I had found another stumper. He told me that evening that I had given him much to consider. His reply not only revealed his passion two weeks later, but he changed the direction of his focus, his service, and his life.
That night, I left that dinner asking myself that same question, "What am I most passionate about?" Of course, I could easily say my family, but why was I still searching for significance, knowing I had a beautiful family. So I asked myself the second question, "What can I do better than anyone else in the world?" Then it hit me. Although, if you were to ask people around me, they would have said, "Well, Staci, you are a tremendous speaker or singer." But I knew deep in my heart that there were a lot of better speakers and singers in the world. So that couldn't be it.
Then it hit me that what I could do better than anyone in the world was to be Mommy to my precious babies and wife to my husband. NO ONE could take that place or be a better mom to the kids that looked to me as their hero. Suddenly, I knew that I had found the answer to what I was best at. With the answer to that question, I found deep and lasting significance.
When I thought about the passion of my heart, I began to dig deep and discovered that what I am most passionate about is being a source of hope and life and Godly love to the world around me. When I identified that as the core passion of my life, I began thinking of ways to use that passion. It started with mentoring, which led to coaching, which led to becoming a national speaker, to reaching thousands of people around the world.
As stated by my guest, Pamela Wiles, on today's morning segment, sometimes we stop dreaming and therefor stop BEING all God has destined us to be.
I want to encourage you to dig deep and discover the answer to those two questions:
"What am I most passionate about?" and "What can do I do better than anyone else on earth?"
Then remember as you unveil the beauty of where that leads you to:
Live Your Passion
1. Dream Big
2. Start Small
3. Never Give up
